Beautiful piece Kelly. It was for many of those reasons that we founded Slow Family Living. We wanted to give families permission to do it their own way - to parent and live family life in the way that really and truly worked for them. By slowing down, connecting with each other and with their own desires, we felt they could then enjoy family life as they wanted to. Beautiful.
If you want to take it another step I highly recommend the book Parenting for a Peaceful World by Robin Grille. It gives such insight into the history of childrearing and our own quest to continue the evolution towards conscious family life. The book gave me great compassion for all people and where they came from and how they might be living their life now.
